Promoting and communicating culture have always been part of Sal. Oppenheim’s tradition and identity. Members of the Oppenheim family were among the co-founders of the Cologne Art Association, which was established in 1839, and of the Central Society for the Construction of the Cathedral (Zentral-Dombau-Verein) for the completion of Cologne's famous landmark.
And this tradition remains alive today – the Bank is still one of the most committed sponsors of Cologne's museums. Sal. Oppenheim is also active outside Cologne. For example, the Bank has long-standing partnerships with the Frieder Burda Museum in Baden-Baden and the Bavarian State Orchestra, and supports foundations for the promotion of academic research projects.
Sal. Oppenheim also has its own art collection. The works decorate the premises at all the Bank's locations, both at the head office in Cologne and in the other branch offices in Germany, Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland.
