Deposit Protection
Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. AG & Co. KGaA (hereinafter also referred to as “Sal. Oppenheim”) is a member of the Deposit Protection Fund of the Federal Association of German Banks (Einlagensicherungsfonds des Bundesverbands deutscher Banken). The Deposit Protection Fund fully guarantees the deposits held by each individual customer of the private commercial banks up to an amount of 30% of the applicable minimum stated (liable) capital of the relevant bank as of the date of the most recently published annual financial statements. The current guarantee ceiling or threshold is EUR 487.941.000 (as of July 2009). Upon request, the Association will also disclose the current guarantee threshold of its member banks to inquiring persons. Pursuant to § 6 (1) of the Deposit Protection Fund’s bylaws, demand deposits, time deposits and savings deposits including registered savings certificates of each individual customer are fully protected up to the aforementioned guarantee threshold. The Deposit Protection Fund does not, however, protect bearer instruments, including specifically bearer bonds.
