Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. AG & Co. KGaA ("Sal. Oppenheim") is a member of the Deposit Protection Fund of the Association of German Banks (Einlagensicherungsfonds des Bundesverbands deutscher Banken). The Deposit Protection Fund fully secures the deposits held by each and every customer at the private commercial banks up to a ceiling of 30% of the relevant liable capital of each bank as at the date of the last published annual financial statements. The current guarantee limit is € 287,892,000 (as at December 2012). The Association will disclose the current guarantee ceiling to any interested party upon request. Pursuant to section 6 (1) of the by-laws of the Deposit Protection Fund, the demand, term and savings deposits, including registered savings certificates, of each and every customer are fully protected up to the aforementioned limit. The Deposit Protection Fund does not, however, protect bearer instruments, particularly bearer bonds.
